Biography
Sam Summerville joined the Titans in 2024 as Senior National Scout.
He arrived in Tennessee with 17 seasons of experience in NFL personnel departments, including 12 seasons with the Chicago Bears. For his first 10 seasons in Chicago, he served as an Area Scout before he was promoted to National Scout in 2021.
At the 2019 NFL Combine, Summerville was honored as the Fritz Pollard Alliance's 2018 NFC Scout of the Year, and in 2023, he was recognized as one of the top 10 scouts in the NFC by ITL's Bart List. Notable players drafted from his scouting area in Chicago included Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith (first round, 2018), North Carolina A&T running back Tarik Cohen (fourth round, 2017), Alabama safety Eddie Jackson (fourth round, 2017), Georgia defensive end Leonard Floyd (first round, 2016), Florida State defensive tackle Eddie Goldman (second round, 2015) and Miami (Fla.) punter Pat O'Donnell (sixth round, 2014).
Prior to his time with the Bears, Summerville spent three seasons with the Cleveland Browns as a Player Personnel Assistant (2009-11) and two campaigns with the Philadelphia Eagles as a Pro Personnel Assistant (2007-08).
Before transitioning to the scouting side of the NFL, he launched his career with the Indianapolis Colts as a Community Relations Intern in 2002 and later as a Football Operations Summer Intern from 2003 to 2006. He also spent time in 2003 as a Marketing Intern with the Arena Football League's Indiana Firebirds.
Summerville played linebacker from 2003 to 2006 at Jackson State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration.
He and his wife, Dawn, have two children: Sydney and Elijah.
