Mike Borgonzi was named the 15th General Manager in franchise history on Jan. 17, 2025.

Borgonzi arrived in Tennessee after 16 years with the Kansas City Chiefs, helping to build the franchise into a perennial contender and three-time Super Bowl winner. During his final four seasons in Kansas City, Borgonzi served as Assistant General Manager.

Tasked with building a foundation for sustained success in Tennessee, Borgonzi directed a significant overhaul of the Titans roster from the time he arrived through the end of his second offseason on the job. Entering training camp in 2026, only 17 of the 91 players on the team (as of July 15) were with the club before he was named GM.

The additions included an eight-man class from the 2026 NFL Draft. Borgonzi took wide receiver Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick, and on the same night, he traded back into the first round to draft defensive end Keldric Faulk at No. 31. It marked only the second time in the franchise's "Titans era" (1999 to present) that the team had multiple first-rounders. The class also included linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. in the second round and five more players on Day 3: guard Fernando Carmona Jr. (Round 5), running back Nick Singleton (5), defensive tackle Jackie Marshall (6), center Pat Coogan (6) and tight end Jaren Kanak (7).

The 2026 draft followed an active period of signings and trades, when the Titans targeted several key veterans to raise the talent level and provide leadership. From the day the NFL's unrestricted free agent signing period began to the start of the draft, a total of 21 free agents joined the Titans. The haul included wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson (formerly of the New York Giants), tight end Daniel Bellinger (Giants), punter Tommy Townsend (Houston Texans), defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers (Denver Broncos) and cornerbacks Alontae Taylor (New Orleans Saints) and Cor'Dale Flott (Giants). Two additional veterans—defensive end Jermaine Johnson II (New York Jets) and defensive tackle Solomon Thomas (Dallas Cowboys)—were acquired in trades.

Borgonzi capped the 2026 offseason by awarding defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons with a multi-year contract extension, securing the four-time Pro Bowler's tenure in Tennessee for the foreseeable future.

The Titans' first Borgonzi-led draft in 2025 featured nine selections, including quarterback Cam Ward with the first-overall selection. All nine of the draftees appeared in at least six games as rookies, and six members of the group started at least five games. The Titans draft class accumulated 64 combined starts in 2025, which ranked second in the NFL (75 by Cleveland) and was the largest total for the franchise in the Titans era.

Ward, who was voted a team captain as a rookie, started all 17 games, and his 3,169 passing yards eclipsed Marcus Mariota's previous franchise rookie record (2,818 passing yards in 2015). With 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions on 323-of-540 passing, Ward's 1.3 percent interception rate was the best single-season mark in franchise history by all qualifying quarterbacks, breaking Ryan Tannehill's franchise mark of 1.5 percent in 2020. Over the final nine games of his rookie season, Ward threw only one interception with 10 touchdown passes.

Another draft pick, fourth-rounder Chimere Dike, was named to the Pro Bowl as a returner and added first-team Associated Press All-Pro honors as a punt returner. Dike, who played in all 17 games with 10 starts at wide receiver, led the NFL with 2,427 all-purpose yards, which ranked third all-time for the franchise and first all-time among all NFL rookies. His 17.3-yard punt return average broke Billy "White Shoes" Johnson's franchise record (15.4) that stood since 1977, and he also posted a franchise-best 1,588 kickoff return yards.

During Borgonzi's time in Kansas City, he contributed to 12 playoff seasons (2010, 2013, 2015-24) and 10 AFC West titles (2010, 2016-24). Borgonzi helped construct a roster over a five-season span that won the AFC five times (2019-20, 2022-24) and captured three Super Bowl championships (2019, 2022-23).

In his final eight seasons in Kansas City (2017-24), Borgonzi worked under Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach. As the Assistant General Manager from 2021 through 2024, he supervised and directed the college and professional scouting operations while closely supporting and advising Veach with the club's roster management and player acquisition via the NFL Draft, free agency, waiver claims and trades. During his four seasons as Assistant General Manager, the Chiefs built a league-best 52-16 regular-season record (.765). In the same four-year span, 10 different Kansas City players earned a combined 23 Pro Bowl selections: tackle Orlando Brown Jr. (2021-22), wide receiver Tyreek Hill (2021), center Creed Humphrey (2022-24), defensive tackle Chris Jones (2021-24), tight end Travis Kelce (2021-24), quarterback Patrick Mahomes (2021-23), safety Tyrann Mathieu (2021), guard Trey Smith (2024), guard Joe Thuney (2022-24) and Townsend (2022).

In 2024, the Chiefs captured their ninth consecutive AFC West crown. They tied the Detroit Lions for the NFL's best record at 15-2, setting a franchise record for wins in a regular season and securing the AFC's top seed. Twenty original Chiefs draft picks started at least six games for the team during the 2024 regular season. Kansas City had five players voted to the Pro Bowl, marking the seventh consecutive year in which it had at least five players earn the honor.

Prior to his promotion to Assistant General Manager, Borgonzi served as Director of Football Operations (2018-20), Director of Player Personnel (2017), Co-Director of Player Personnel (2015-16), Assistant Director of Pro Scouting (2013-14), Pro Personnel Scout (2011-12) and Manager of Football Operations (2010). He joined the Chiefs in 2009 as the club's College Scouting Administrator.

Before landing in the NFL with the Chiefs, Borgonzi spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons at Boston College, where he was the Assistant Recruiting Coordinator. He also coached tight ends at Amherst College in 2002 before working in the financial sector in Boston for several years.

A native of Everett, Mass., Borgonzi graduated from Brown University, where he was a four-year starter at fullback and was a three-time All-Ivy League selection.

He and his wife, Jill, have a son, Joseph, and a daughter, Nina. His brother, Dave, has coached in the NFL since 2011 and currently serves as the Linebackers Coach for the Titans.
