Week 2 Titans High School Coach of the Week Nominees Announced

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans are proud to announce Week 2 nominees for the Titans High School Coach of the Week honors!

The nominees are Steve Trapp of DeKalb County High School, Bruce Lussier of Nashville's Father Ryan, Justin Price of Campbell County High School and Noah Lampkins of Gleason High School.

Each coach was chosen by sports media throughout the state of Tennessee on the basis of specific criteria. The specific criteria included, beating a longtime rival, snapping a losing streak, defeating a defending champion, an amazing come from behind victory, and/or involvement in the local community.

Also considered, is a coach's consideration of his players' safety, by teaching the fundamentals of the game, proper tackling techniques, concussion management practices and adherence to heat and hydration guidelines.

Week 2 voting is open until 9 a.m. ET/8 a.m. CT, Thursday, Sept. 12. 

The 10 winners of the Coach of the Week will each earn a $1,000 grant from the Tennessee Titans Foundation for their football programs to be used to provide funds for equipment, turf treatment or upgrades to their field house. 

At the conclusion of the Tennessee state playoffs, a Titans High School Coach of the Year will be selected, and that winner will earn a $2,000 grant from the Titans Foundation for his school's football program.

The Titans began honoring Tennessee's High School Coaches in 1998 and since that time, have awarded more than $162,000 in grants to support high school football programs throughout Tennessee via this program! 

Please review the brief description of each nominee before voting:

Steve Trapp, DeKalb County HS:Led by a freshman quarterback, Steven Jennings,* *Coach Trapp's Tigers defeated Livingston Academy Wildcats, 35-28. This is Dekalb's first win against the Wildcats since 1994. In the game's final seconds, the Tigers' defense was successful with a goal line stand as Livingston threatened to tie the game.

Bruce Lussier, Father Ryan:Lussier's Father Ryan Fightin' Irish defeated Division II No. 2 ranked Brentwood Academy Eagles, 24-20. Father Ryan took the lead early in first half and fended off the Eagles big plays in the second half to maintain their lead.  The Fightin' Irish had not beaten the Eagles since 2008.

*Noah Lampkin, Gleason High School: *Lampkin's Gleason Bulldogs defeated West Carroll 36-6, winning their District 13A opener. With the win, the Bulldogs improved their record to 3-0, for the first time since 2005.

*Justin Price, Campbell County High School: *Coach Price's Campbell County High School Cougars went on the road and defeated the Central Bobcats 28-21. Pulling away in the fourth quarter, the Cougar's improved their record to 3-0. This marks Campbell County's best start in school's history.
