"Troops & Titans: A USO Celebration of Veterans Day" to be held Friday, Nov. 15

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans are partnering with the USO to host a fundraising event at LP Field on Friday, November 15, 2013. The event, which is open to the public, is an opportunity for the Nashville community to learn more about the programs and services offered by the USO at both in the Nashville International Airport and at Fort Campbell.

"The mission of the USO is to lift the spirits of America's troops and their families," said Kari Burgess, Center Director at USO Fort Campbell and USO Nashville. "Locally, we fulfill this mission by offering a variety of programs and giving servicemembers a 'home away from home' as they travel through Nashville International Airport or while they have down time at Fort Campbell. At USO Nashville, we also have a special opportunity to care for Families of the Fallen as they travel to and from Dover Air Force Base for Dignified Transfers, or around the country for funerals and memorial services."

The "Troops & Titans" event includes dinner and soft drinks, as well as a cash bar. Guests will have opportunity to meet Titans fullback and Army Reserves Captain Collin Mooney plus three veteran players from the 1999 Titans Super Bowl team, Blaine Bishop, Kevin Dyson and Neil O'Donnell. Titans cheerleaders will be present plus guests will receive tour of LP Field. Keni Thomas, musician and decorated combat veteran, will share some songs and stories. Tickets are required and can be purchased at http://troopsandtitans.eventbrite.com/.

All programs and services offered by the USO are free to troops and families. The money raised at "Troops & Titans" will support USO programs, including United Through Reading's Military Program, a variety of workshops and seminars for service members and families, and "With You All the Way" deployment kits for children. The funds will also support services, such as printer paper and toner, snacks and beverages, and video gaming equipment.

Questions about "Troops & Titans" should be directed to Kari Burgess via email at kburgess@uso.org.
