NASHVILLE – Build it, and they will come.

During the Topping Out ceremony at new Nissan Stadium on Friday morning, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell raved about the franchise's new stadium, the Titans, and the city of Nashville.

And, in so many words, Goodell gave a strong hint about the potential of the Super Bowl being played in Nashville one day as he looked toward controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk and those on hand for the event.

"So much of the vision that Amy and the Titans have here," Goodell said. "Listen, it's an important franchise, and a wonderful franchise. I know the work they've done here from the moment you had the draft and what you did to change the trajectory of the draft. You actually took the draft and made it yours, but you did it in a way that was incredibly impactful to the future of the NFL, and the Titans.

"And I think all of us at that moment had the wake-up call and went: 'This is a Super Bowl ready city, and the only thing that is missing is the stage.' Now, you are building a great stage. We have a process, but I have every expectation you are going to see that type of thing in the future."

The ceremonial Topping Out event was the celebration of the work that's been done to this point, and what's ahead in the future for the new Nissan Stadium, which is scheduled to be completed in February 2027.

The Titans are set to play their first game in the stadium in fall of 2027.

Along with Goodell and Strunk, Governor Bill Lee, Titans President and CEO Burke Nihill and Tennessee Builders Alliance Principal-in-Charge John Gromos were among those on hand for the event, which began in the East Club of current Nissan Stadium and ended with the group signing the topping off beam inside the new stadium.

At the end of the ceremony, the beam was hoisted to the top as onlookers cheered.

"What an incredible moment this is," Strunk said. "Standing here today in the shadow of this beautiful building coming to life behind me, it just truly takes your breath away. This new stadium means so much to our team, and to this beautiful city we call home. It is more than just a building, it is a promise to our fans, it is a gathering place for our community, and it is a big part of the future of Nashville."

Strunk thanked the workers involved in the project, and she said the beam that was later hoisted to the top of the new stadium "represents your pride, strength and hard work."

Strunk also thanked the team's fans.

"Y'all are the heartbeat of this team," she said. "Your love and support keep us going every step of the way.

"We still have work to do, but today is a big, beautiful step forward. I can't wait for the day we open those doors and welcome y'all in."
