Titans Looking Forward to Time Off During Bye Weekend

!
Today marks the beginning of our four-day bye weekend.  Coach Fisher has given the team off until Tuesday morning.  Though the bye comes a little earlier than most teams would want, we are still thankful at where we are at this point in the season.  When the schedule came out in the spring I don't believe there were very many people who would have thought we would be 2-1 at this point, except the players and coaches here at Baptist Sports Park.

It has been an incredible week for the team and me.  We traveled down to New Orleans for a much anticipated Monday night match up with the NFC South champions.  The game was touted as the probable Super Bowl contenders versus the up-and-comers.  But by the end of the night the Saints were left wondering what went wrong with their team and we felt pretty good about where we are and looking forward to the next couple of weeks.

Our running game continues to do well, even though we didn't gain the 282 yards we had in week one, but we did enough to stretch the defense and allow Vince Young to get the ball to those who make plays.  The big question marks leading into the season were who would carry the ball and can our young receivers get the job done?  I believe what we have proven is that everyone will play an equally important role in our success as the season goes on.

On the defensive side of the ball our front four have stepped up and become a run stopping wall that we didn't have last season.  And though picked on in the first three games, our secondary hasn't backed down from anybody.  I am thrilled by Keith Bulluck…not only is he a great player, but the emotional leader on defense.  His three picks in the game last week are only a fraction of why he should be in the Pro Bowl year in and year out!

Lastly, this week was even sweeter for me as I was inducted into LSU's Athletic Hall of Fame.  What an incredible honor and privilege to be named among the best to ever where LSU's purple and gold.  Names like Shaquille O'Neal, Jimmy Taylor, Y.A. Tittle, Pete Maravich, Todd Walker, are one's that will be remembered in and around LSU circles for years to come and now I am a part of that select few.  To put it all into perspective, there have been 6,005 athletes who have lettered at LSU since the mid 1800's, only 106 of them are in the LSU Hall of Fame…I am one of them…what a blessing!
