Titans Foundation Extends Sponsorship of Mr. Football Awards for Four Years

HERMITAGE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association is proud to announce that the Tennessee Titans, through their donation from the Tennessee Titans Foundation and Mr. Bud Adams, have announced the extension of their sponsorship of the Mr. Football Awards for the next four years. The Tennessee Titans Foundation began sponsoring the awards in 2007. The awards will continue to be named the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards.

"I am very pleased to extend our support of the Titans Mr. Football Awards for an additional four years," said Titans owner Bud Adams.  "As I've said many times, high school football in Tennessee enjoys a rich tradition throughout our state and the young men that are recognized by the Titans Mr. Football Award are truly the best of the best.  Since we began sponsoring these awards four years ago, I have received personal letters from these young men and their coaches thanking us for supporting them and I enjoy each and every one of them!  I look forward to partnering with the TSSAA for years to come as we salute these young men that play our great game of football.  And it's important to note that they are selected not only for their on-the-field accomplishments, but also for their outstanding character and athletic achievement!"

The Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards were recently presented to the top 10 backs and linemen in five classifications of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association on Monday, November 30, 2010, at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Murfreesboro. The top three kickers in the state, regardless of classification, were honored as well.

"We are very pleased to continue and build upon an already strong and positive relationship with Mr. Adams and the Tennessee Titans," stated Bernard Childress, Executive Director of the TSSAA.

"We are obviously excited because of the recognition it provides to 33 student-athletes, their families, and schools and we appreciate the Tennessee Titans for making it possible," added Childress. "The Tennessee Titans and Mr. Adams are very dedicated to the young people in our state, and this sponsorship is evidence of that commitment and dedication."

The Mr. Football Awards have been presented to for 26 consecutive years to Tennessee's best high school football players.

More than 500 people, including the honorees, their families, coaches, school administrators and members of the media from all parts of the state, attend the luncheon each year.

Mike Keith, play-by-play voice of the Tennessee Titans, has emceed the awards presentation since the Titans began their sponsorship in 2007.  Three former Titans players, Kevin Dyson, Craig Hentrich and Chris Sanders, made the presentation of awards to the 2010 winners with assistance from Titans cheerleaders.
