NASHVILLE – NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah isn't sure it makes perfect sense for the Titans to pick Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.
But, Jeremiah said on a conference call on Tuesday he thinks Love may be worth bucking his normal thought process heading into the NFL Draft.
"The Titans, it's a fascinating one," Jeremiah said. "I have always had the rule that you need to build out the key parts of the roster, including the offensive line, before you insert the running back, because the career, the shelf life, you want to be able to maximize all their carries – you don't want to waste carries on a bad team with a running back. You want to build it up and then drop the running back in. I don't love everything (the Titans) did in the offseason – I was hoping they would do a little bit more for the offense, but they built up the defense pretty well. I thought maybe there was some trade opportunities or other ideas out there to build up this offense to be able to insert (Love) into that lineup.
"So, I am breaking my own rule in saying I still think they should take Jeremiyah Love, even though they don't have all those pieces in place, with the hope being that one more offseason of free agency and the draft, they can build up that offensive line and the rest of that offense and they go into a new stadium (in 2027), so in Year 2 I think you could see that whole offense really start to blossom."
In 2025, Love ran for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns en route to being named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, won by Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
Love, who also tallied 27 catches for 280 yards and three touchdowns last year, was also named a unanimous All-American and won the Doak Walker Award as the best running back in the nation.
Jeremiah thinks he's special.
"He's a complete back – he can do everything," Jeremiah said of Love. "His value and what he can do in the passing game is what elevates him. I don't have him quite at the level of Saquon Barkley coming out, but he is in the conversation with Bijan Robinson for me. I have a higher grade on him that I had on Jahmyr Gibbs, and we know what he's become. He is extremely talented, he is explosive. He is going to give you big plays in the pass game as well as in the run game. He is not a little guy, he is 212 pounds."
The Titans are scheduled to pick fourth overall in next week's NFL Draft, behind the Raiders, Jets and Cardinals.
Jeremiah suspects Love will be there at four, along with some other intriguing prospects.
"Arizona is the team I guess people would look at there (as a possibility for Love)," Jeremiah said. "I believe he'll be there when (the Titans) pick. Talking to people across the league, not inside the Titans building, if (Texas Tech edge) David Bailey were to get there, they thought that's where his night would end, that (the Titans) would pluck him. Other options there, (Ohio State linebacker) Sonny Styles, you could make the easy connection when you have Robert Saleh, who has coached Fred Warner and understands the importance of having a stud with length and range and athleticism at that position."
