(On his 67-yard field goal being the longest outdoor kick in NFL history) "I still got the grass record, both times. Vegas is grass, too. Oh, outdoor record. I didn't mean to correct you there. Yeah, I got the outdoor record too. I don't know, it just happened so fast.
Obviously, they went for it on fourth down and me and [LS] Ross [Matiscik] were like, 'If they don't get it, we're kicking the field goal.' And so, we started to go warm up and then [P] Logan [Cooke] obviously came over there as well. Obviously, we saw [CB] Greg Newsome's PBU [pass breakup] instead of a pick. Thank you, Greg, appreciate that, for not picking it because I wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to kick it. But no, it just happened so fast.
I'm thankful that we prep during the week for moments like this. You prep for two-minute long field goals, the coaching staff does such a good job of making sure I'm ready for those moments that they just felt like second nature, going out there and just doing my job."
(On whether this kick felt any different than his 68-yard field goal kick in Las Vegas) "Honestly, I probably caught this one a little cleaner. The wind was kind of blowing a couple directions the whole game. It really wasn't—in this stadium it swirls normally. But the wind was definitely moving a couple different directions. So, I think I played the wind probably perfect on this kick. And obviously, there's no wind in Vegas, so I just got to kick it straight. But I like the way I hit this ball probably a little better."
(On whether he knows the exact distance when he kicks the ball) "I knew it was 67 because we're snapping it from the 49. If it's third down, realistically I try to get a good gauge of where we're going to kick it from. Because I mean, if we're third-and-10, say from the 30-yard line, you're going to kick it anywhere from a 48-yarder to a 40-yarder, if you get eight or nine yards. So, I try and give myself a gauge, but on that one, I knew specifics because the situation was so unique."
(On why he didn't do the viral '67' celebration) "Oh I know! Honestly, I didn't even think about it. The trend is kind of going away, I feel like. But they were all on the sideline giving me crap about it and I was like, 'Oh gosh, here we go, this is going to be a meme on the internet now.' It was sick though."
(On the inspiration behind his celebration) "No, the celebration actually was after Cristiano Ronaldo. He does a celebration where he tells the crowd to calm down because he's been there before, obviously when he makes the kick. So that was kind of what I was
trying to mimic because Ronaldo is one of my favorite soccer players."
(On his streak of 20 field goals made) "Don't say it too loud, man! Let's relax! No, but 20 in a row, we're at a good spot. I think our unit is doing a really good job like they always do. It's nice to keep trekking on week by week, trying to take it literally 1-0 at a time like [Head Coach] Liam [Coen] harps on."
(On if the 68-yard field goal was what really got him rolling) "I just think a bye week can do a lot of things for your mind. I think as a human, when you get time off, you can see it as kind of a clean slate. Dewey [S Andrew Wingard] was a great help. I think Dewey's philosophical side, if you guys have ever seen it is pretty cool, and he was a good teammate to help me kind of reset and I think I took a lot of his advice. I took a lot of our sports psychologists' advice and just used it as a reset button, and I think I've done a good job since."
(On the influence that HC Liam Coen has over the team as a younger and newer coach) "It's great. I think he brings an energy that is eclectic. I think you think about a young guy coming in and bringing energy, it spreads like wildfire. So, as a young guy myself, I like someone who's upbeat and bringing energy all the time and I guess you could say relates to the younger generation a little bit at times. So, it's pretty cool to have a head coach that is as tight as he is with us."
(On if he can believe the turnaround of being 4-13 last season and now being 13-4 this season) "I can, because I know the talent and I know what we are capable of in this room. We have the talent, we have guys that care about the game, we have guys that do the right things all the time from the top down. To know that all this hard work and all these guys and the talent levels that they're playing at is paying off, it's not a surprise to me because I saw it built up in the offseason, I've seen it built up since I've been here. They're all special
players and we're all putting it together and we're building something special, so it's sick."
