NASHVILLE – The Titans know who they're taking with the first overall pick.
Now, it's just a matter of turning in the card in Thursday night's NFL Draft.
"We've come to a consensus, the entire organization," Titans General Manager Mike Borgonzi said during a Tuesday press conference. "(The plan) is to stay at that pick and I guess you'll find out Thursday night who we pick."
Borgonzi said "there was interest" from other teams regarding a trade.
"I thought that was doing our due diligence, and going through the process to listen to those offers," Borgonzi said. "And there were (offers). I don't want to go into specifics on what the offer was or what the teams were, but there were offers."
In a press conference that also included President of Football Operations Chad Brinker and head coach Brian Callahan, there was plenty of discussion about Miami quarterback Cam Ward, a player the team spent a lot of time with during the pre-draft process. Ward has been a popular pick for the Titans in mock drafts.
Brinker, Borgonzi and Callahan all talked favorably about Ward during the 30-minute press conference, but they didn't come out and say he'd be the pick.
So, if Ward does end up being the pick, it would first have to come from the mouth of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on the stage in Green Bay.
Borgonzi was asked when the team ultimately decided on the player they'd pick while saying they're not interested in receiving any more trade offers.
"It's such a long process here, and we wanted to go through the whole thing," Borgonzi said. "I don't know if there was a certain point along the process, but we were listening the whole time. And then as we got to the end of the process, we decided as an organization we're going to stay (at 1)."
