INDIANAPOLIS – Titans head coach Robert Saleh spoke to reporters here today at the NFL Combine.
Earlier, I posted a story on Saleh talking about quarterback Cam Ward's leadership traits: CLICK HERE.
I also posted a story on Saleh discussing Femi Oladejo and his potential. CLICK HERE to read that story.
Some other nuggets from Saleh, who spoke to reporters in two different sessions inside the Indiana Convention Center:
-Saleh made no secret he's been impressed with Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain.
"With a young man like Bain," Saleh said, "… his tape is undeniable. He is an unbelievable football player, he plays with great violence. His football IQ is off the charts. … There are certain things he'll have to adjust to like all these rookies will, but I think he's a kid that is going to have a lot of success in this league."
-The Titans need cornerbacks, and Saleh presented a pretty good picture of what he's looking for at the position.
"We want guys who will stick their face in the fan, and get ready to go play," Saleh said. "Obviously, we'll sacrifice a little bit to make sure they can cover and do all those things. But if you don't like contact, you're not going to be a corner in our defense."
-Saleh said he has spoken to quarterback Will Levis, and he has confidence that he'll be ready to compete.
"Just met him, had a really good conversation with him the other day," Saleh said. "My one exposure to him (as a coach) was back in '24, we played them in Week 2. I do think he has tremendous talent, he has tremendous size, tremendous arm strength. Again, I'm looking forward to him. I'll tell you guys the same thing I told him: Just attack this offseason, have the best offseason of your life, compete your butt off and let's see what happens.
"I am really looking forward to him being a part of this football team."
-Saleh said his conversations with defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat have been good, but he acknowledged Sweat is going to be asked to do things differently than he's done in the past. "He's a big man, and he has much faster feet that people realize," Saleh said. "Is it going to be easy for him? It's not, it's a lot of work and it is physically demanding to play d-line in our system," Saleh said. "But I do think he's up to the task."
-Saleh said he's at his first NFL Combine since 2019.
"There's tremendous value (in coming)," Saleh said. "Any time you get face time … with these young men. Every minute is crucial when you are trying to evaluate these guys."
