Coach Whisenhunt's Friday Practice Transcript

(on the Browns announcing that Johnny Manziel will be their starting quarterback on Sunday and if that affects any of his plans)

We prepared this week for both guys, so I hope not.

(on what the challenges are with Johnny Manziel's ability to get out of the pocket)*

His ability to extend the play and then also make accurate throws when he's on the move. He's shown that he has talent that way, so those are always a concern defensively. Staying with the receivers if a play extends is always something that's difficult, and trying to make sure that we're good with our contain and understand those are the kinds of things that hurt you.

(on if having another fast start will be key on Sunday)

Well I don't think we ever go into a game saying we're going to go out there and have a slow start. But whenever you're on the road, it's always tough. You know you have to go in there and you don't want to make mistakes early. You want to do what we did last week where you're good on both sides of the ball early. That's the mentality we tried to work on in camp. It's not something that you can always guarantee you'll get done, but hopefully we can do something similar this week.

(on if Delanie Walker practiced today)

The injury report comes out a little bit later. He was out there for a little bit.

(on what Delanie Walker does that makes him the team's top tight end)

Well Delanie (Walker) is good. He's proven it. He's done it in the games. He works hard. The guy makes plays. That's what you want to see. He's been doing that consistently since he's been here. He's a talented player and we're certainly glad he's on our team.
