Coach Fisher's Thursday Practice Report

HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER**

(on how often Denver throws the ball deep on offense)

They've been doing that regularly, putting the ball up downfield.  Pop, play-action, drop-back, they find the one-on-one situations and they take advantage of it.  Then they'll try to overload you in zone and put the stress on the safeties and put the ball well down the field—he's a very good deep ball thrower.

(on if Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton is an example of how long it takes to get comfortable as a quarterback in the NFL)

I don't think—at any time early in his career, I didn't see him struggle.  He's always made good decisions and he's very, very smart.  He's just at a point now where he feels really comfortable in the offense.

(on if he thinks Laurence Maroney will adjust to Denver's offense quickly after being traded from New England)

Yeah, their offense is very similar to New England.  I'm sure the terminology is probably identical, so it wouldn't be a problem.  I mean, he's not behind and it would make sense that he would go in and play right away.

(on if Denver Broncos running back Laurence Maroney is still a dangerous offensive player)

We had a couple of bad experiences with him last year, and he's still very, very explosive.

(on how Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey is playing at this stage in his career)

There were some questions as to whether or not he was going to go last week, and he made a lot of plays on the ball.  First play of the game he lines up on (Indianapolis Colts WR) Reggie (Wayne) and makes a play all the way across the field.  He has tremendous ball skills and still has real good quickness.

(on if Denver has adapted to the season-ending loss of linebacker Elvis Dumervil)

They have a very solid front.  You can't replace a guy like that, especially his numbers, but they have a solid front and they are getting good pressure.  They're just not getting the quarterback with the ball in his hands, but they can pressure.

(on how Denver Broncos offensive tackle Ryan Clady looks after having offseason knee surgery)

There is no evidence that he has ever had an injury before, he's playing very well.

(on if he needs the Titans fans to provide a loud home field environment for the game on Sunday)

Yeah, there is no question about it.  There is going to be a lot of things being done on the line of scrimmage for them and the louder it is, the better off we'll be on defense.

(on what Alterraun Verner has done as a rookie to earn the coaches' confidence)

He understands the system, he's got ball skills, he's physical and he's very instinctive.  He did not walk in the door acting like a rookie.

(on if Tony Brown can get away with not practicing because he's a veteran)

He knows what to do, and he's taking care of himself.  At some point here in the near future, I expect he will be back on the practice field on a regular basis.

(on if Tony Brown's technique has suffered at all from his lack of practice)

No, no he's still working hard and we hope that we'll get him out here tomorrow.

(on how the Titans wide receivers maintain such an unselfish attitude)

They understand that a good block that springs (Chris Johnson) is as valuable as a big catch down the field, so they have to stay alive all the time.  They also know that their opportunities are going to come; that is just the nature of the National Football League

(on if Champ Bailey is a Hall of Famer)

It's still early, he's a top corner and he's played at a high level for so many years—he's a tremendous athlete.  There's not a lot like Champ that just play on a consistent basis, that take a professional approach to their job and then play at a high level for so long.
