Coach Fisher's Sunday Training Camp Report

**

HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER**

(on Derrick Morgan not participating in most of practice)

Derrick has had an ongoing calf issue…he had it before he left the at end of OTAs.  We just backed him down, he's not 100 percent, he felt it a little bit so we just backed him down.  He will eventually get back on the field at full speed, when that is I don't know.  We backed him down so that we wouldn't risk further injury.

(on whether or not he is concerned that Derrick Morgan will fall too far behind)

No, you can't worry about that.  What we're concerned about is getting him back on the field.  The process is a difficult process because the player leaves OTAs and he goes home.  You have a player that is not under contract, it's hard to monitor and they say different things.  You cannot, like I said yesterday, there is no way you can simulate what we're doing out here.  We just backed him down and now he is in our care, our hands and we'll get him back out there as soon as we can

(on his impressions on day two of training camp)

It was much better today.  Yesterday was a little lethargic, particularly because we did the conditioning test but they got their legs back and we had a much better day today.

(on how Derrick Morgan did today with his conditioning test)

We didn't test him today.  There were a number of players, as I mentioned a couple days ago, those guys that are not quite 100 percent we'll test before they play in a preseason game.  We're going to work them back them back in with the guys who are healthy and tested.  We didn't test him today just for that reason.  We had been concerned about it, we could have started him on PUP, but we didn't and we're going to get him back as quickly as we can.

(on the cornerback battle opposite of Cortland Finnegan and whether it makes him anxious)

Oh no, they're all improving.  We're going to get a good solid starter, maybe two out of that group.  They're all improving and it's going to be a fun deal to watch.

(on why safety Vincent Fuller was getting reps at cornerback)

We only have four corners out there who are healthy and typically you have six or seven at camp.  So, rather than further diminish the position we solicited some help from the safety position.

(on if that means that Vincent Fuller will be getting playing time at cornerback)

Oh, I mean Vinny can come in and finish, he's too valuable in all of the other spots he does.

(on how Kenny Britt is doing in his second camp)

He is just going, he just needs to consistently produce on the practice field day after day—and that is what he's been doing.  Yes, (he has improved) those who were here yesterday were informed then.**

(on Marc Mariani showing flashes during camp)

Yeah, he had some catches, made a couple good catches today.  In that one period I think he had three catches, one he extended and finished the catch, so he's coming on.

(on Marc Mariani's ability to compete and not be overwhelmed)

I don't think there is anybody out here that is overwhelmed right now.  Everybody is competing, Marc's a competitive guy, he's a good athlete.

(on any changes with the guys on the PUP list)

Not at this point, nothing today…no changes.

(on when Tony Brown will be ready to come off the PUP)

You know it's hard to predict.  It's day-to-day, he's getting better but we'll get him out there as soon as we can.
