Coach Fisher's Monday Training Camp Report

HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER

(opening comments)

We made a couple roster moves today. We released Chris Davis and Doug Datish. Both players have been injured and it doesn't appear their injuries are going to be such that they'll make the team. We cleared two roster spots and we're going to look around and see if we can bring some help in to finish up camp.

(on if Chris Davis' DUI had any effect on him being released)

We're evaluating receivers and we have a good group of young receivers and didn't feel like Chris was going to make our club. With the injury and everything else considered it was a logical place to go for the roster spot.

(on Chris Davis' offseason)

He had a good offseason. He was playing well up until the Baltimore (Buffalo) game, but the hamstring isn't going to allow us to evaluate him prior to the final cut down.

(on how that leaves the kick returners depth)

We still have plenty of options.

(on how soon Chris Davis would have been back on the field practicing)

I'm not going to go into the specifics.

(on Nate Washington's injury)

We don't have any information. He's got a little mild hamstring going but we'll have to check it out.

(on if they are concerned about Nate Washington's injury)

Any time a receiver has a hamstring you're concerned about it. We don't have the information, we haven't done the tests yet.

(on Nate Washington walking off the field after the injury)

It's a good sign but we still have to do the tests.

(on the spirited practice and guys trying to make a last impression before roster cuts)

It's a team thing. Everyone's situation is unique. You've got guys battling for a roster spot hopeful for a chance to make the practice squad. We've got veterans that are trying to get better and we've got a team overall that needs to work. We're going to do the same thing tomorrow.

(on who will play wide receiver with Nate Washington injured)

Kenny will step up, he's versatile. The younger guys, Dominique's (Edison) doing well, Hawk's (Lavelle Hawkins) doing well, Paul's (Williams) catching the ball so we'll have plenty of people to play this weekend.

(on if this is the time for the wide receiver's to step up)

It's been their time and they've responded. They just need to continue to eliminate the mistakes and carry over some of the good things they do on the practice field and some of the games.

(on if the expectations on the offense have been too high)

No, I think every offense in the league would like to put 500 yards up and 35 points a game. It just doesn't happen, it's the nature of the preseason. Teams are in different places. The Cowboys clearly did some things that we weren't prepared for. We didn't plan and they did so it just happens that way. Again, if we're not getting the production once the regular season starts we'll be concerned. We're too talented, we're too smart to not be able to get production.

(on Nick Harper)

We backed down a few players and Nick's one of them. We're not concerned about playing him this weekend.

(on Ryan Mouton's progression)

He progressing slowly, he's got a high ankle sprain that's going to take him some time.
