HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER**

(on Vince Young)

**

He's doing okay. We'll see. He'll be day-to-day and we'll see how he is on Wednesday.

**

(on if tests were run on Vince Young's hamstring)

**

Yes. We do the normal test exams and he's doing okay.

**

(on if he can share anything about Vince Young's hamstring)

**

I can't share anything. We'll have a report for you on Wednesday. He'll be day-to-day and today's Monday. Hopefully we'll have him on the practice field on Wednesday. If he's not, you'll be aware of it. I haven't ruled him out for the ball game.

**

(on if it is still a mild hamstring injury)

**

Standing behind that, yes.

**

(on if it compares to Nate Washington's hamstring injury during training camp)

**

That's really unfair to compare one injury to another. I don't make a habit of that. I classified it as a mild hamstring and he'll be day-to-day.

**

(on whose decision it is if Vince Young will play)

**

It's a collective decision, but he has a lot to do with it because it's his hamstring, not to be facetious. We want him to practice. We want him to play. It's Monday and the MRI was good. We'll classify it as a mild hamstring and we'll take it from there. I haven't ruled him out for the game.

**

(on if a hamstring injury for Vince Young is different for a hamstring injury for Kerry Collins)

**

I don't think so. You've got a hamstring injury at the quarterback position, you've got to be able to flush. You need your legs to avoid and to move around in the pocket.

**

(on if he's worried Vince Young will want to play if he's not ready)

**

No, we're not going to risk him to further injury. It's likely that he'll be limited if he plays. It's unlikely that he'll be 100 percent, but still there's different levels. Again, we're encouraged and he'll be day-to-day.

**

(on if John David Booty will be moved to the active roster for a third quarterback)

**

Not necessarily.

**

(on if Vince Young can miss practice this week and still play in the game)

**

Yes, he could.

**

(on if the knee issue is past Vince Young)

**

Well, it wasn't a concern in the game. It didn't restrict him and he didn't further injure the knee.

**

(on if Vince Young's hamstring was bothering him before he injured it)

He didn't have a hamstring issue prior to the play. It was a 60-yard run wasn't it? Forty-four, it looked like he was running pretty good to me.

**

(on if Vince Young took himself out of the game)

**

Well, we made the decision after the examination. When a player has a hamstring or a muscle pull, they basically describe to the trainers and the doctors what happened. It's an examination, I think one automatically thinks when there is in fact a hamstring injury that they're going to be at least out of the game for some time. Some players have been able to play through it and they recover. It just depends on the player. It's a complex series of muscles. It depends where it is, whether it's high, whether it's low, whether it's in the belly, what muscle's involved.

**

(on the offensive plans without Vince Young)

**

Mike (Heimerdinger) had to adjust because the defense adjusted yesterday when Vince came out. We got some different things coverage wise. We had to adjust on the run. We didn't necessarily have some of the things in that we ordinarily would have had in. So, there was some recall and I thought the guys did a good job adjusting to it.

**

(on if the offensive game plan is different for Vince Young than Kerry Collins)

**

We'll put a plan together. Yeah, there's a few things that Vince has done that we wouldn't ask Kerry to do. But as far as the drop back and the run game and the play action and all those kinds of things, they're the same.

**

(on if the offensive line and wide receivers adjusted well to Kerry Collins)

**

They did their job. Again, there's not a difference in the pocket between the two quarterbacks. You have a three-step, you have a five-step or you have a full-drop which is seven steps and you expect him to step up and the pocket's there. So, there's not a big adjustment as far as the line's concerned based on which quarterback's in.

**

(on hamstring injuries)

**

It's the degree. Kevin Dyson tore his hamstring off the bone and had to have it surgically repaired. Again, as I say, you've got a series of muscles. People have injured their hamstring and the body of the muscle and still been able to play. It relates directly to the size of the defect of the muscle.

**

(on finishing the last two drives with touchdowns)

**

Well, we struggled with it a little bit last week in Indianapolis in plus territory. It was important. We just had to finish and create the plays and make plays. Someone's got to make plays. It's good, Kerry (Collins) made a great throw and Alge (Crumpler) made a great catch in traffic. Their defense was, not that we didn't anticipate the way they were going to play, but they played well and they played hard and they finished. Their whole team did. Even when you get down like that it's hard to play with a lot of emotion and enthusiasm and they did so and we were impressed with them.

**

(on downfield blocking)

**

The receivers did an especially good job peeling back. Nate (Washington) had a nice block. Kenny Britt had a nice block. They just tie people up and run with people. It's nice to see C.J. (Chris Johnson) crossing the goal line on a long run and have a number of people there, including offensive linemen.

**

(on the performance of the run defense)

**

I thought they played well. The front seven played well. The secondary supported when they needed to and they were called upon. I thought they played well.

**

(on if he was surprised when the flag was picked up after a late hit out of bounds)

**

The referee didn't pick it up, the other official on the spot picked it up. He said he didn't think it was necessary.

**

(on if he is okay with one official overruling another official)

**

Well, as long as you agree with the call. I think over the years they've moved to that. The bottom line is to get the thing right. This was late and I could see it. I was trying to get out of the way and so I didn't actually see the contact.

**

(on Richie Incognito)

**

He's a very aggressive player. He went over the top a couple times and was penalized for it and should have been. I'm sure the league will deal with it appropriately.

**

(on Eric Bakhtiari)

**

He did a nice job. He was involved in about five or six of the coverages and had three and a half or four tackles. I thought he did a nice job.

**

(on if accusing a team of running up the score is applicable in the NFL)

**

I think it depends on who is doing the accusing. I didn't think anything when we lost 59-0 in New England. I didn't think Bill (Belichick) was doing anything intentional. It's our job to stop it. If someone there was offended then so be it. We were trying to score points and win a ball game. I can kick a field goal and that's an automatic points. You go for it on fourth down, at least I'm giving them a chance to make a stop. If they were offended then I guess they'll have to work through their own issues.

**

(on William Hayes)

**

I thought he diagnosed well. He used his hands well. He was very powerful on the edge. We needed that kind of play out of our ends just to keep them from flattening out and bouncing out and getting the edge. William did, he got off blocks and made tackles.

**

(on if he was disappointed that David Thornton did not finish the game)

**

Yes, I was. I was disappointed he couldn't finish. We're doing tests right now on his shoulder.

**

(on if Gerald McRath did a nice job of filling in for David Thornton)

**

Yes, he did. Gerald's played well for us on special teams and defense.

**

(on Gerald McRath)

**

He got lined up right, played with enthusiasm, made tackles, attacked blocks, covered, zone dropped which you expect a linebacker to do, in addition to maintaining his special teams responsibilities.

**

(on the defensive line pressuring Keith Null)

**

I thought the defensive line did a real nice job of applying pressure. There was not a lot of time to throw the football. We didn't get the sacks we had hoped for, but the ball had to come out. When the ball comes out and it's coming out of the hand of an inexperienced quarterback, you're going to have opportunities to make big plays. That's what they did.

**

(on if the game versus Miami takes on a playoff-type atmosphere)

**

No, the playoffs are after the regular season is over. What we're going to do is play this game because it's our next game, it's our next opponent. I think it's fair to say, without being disrespectful to the Rams, I think the Miami Dolphins are a little bit better than the team we played yesterday. So, from that standpoint we've got a very important week ahead of us. We've got to heal up. We've got to put together a game plan that is going to involve stopping what I think is one of the better running games in the National Football League. I think their offensive line is one of the top, they're physical. Their defense is very aggressive as Jacksonville found out yesterday. I think this is going to be one of the tougher games we've had in recent weeks.

**

(on the fake punt by the Rams)

**

You can't stop that play with a six-man box, that's all. We could have lined up in seven or eight-man, it's things like that. Instead, we elected to return it, didn't expect a fake. If we lined up in a seven or eight-man box or left the defense out there, they would have called it off and punted it. It's just one of those things that happens.

**

(on if it is a situation call for the fake punt)

**

It was an intentional call. Those things are complex. There's the seam. There's a number of different ways at faking punts. They have a call on. If they get the look they like they run it, if they don't, they don't. You don't have the call on all the time. They intentionally faked this punt with the hope they would get the look and they did. Good for them, bad for us. We should have been in a seven or eight-man box.

**

(on Chris Johnson saying he missed an assignment on the 66-yard touchdown reception)

**

Well, there's a lot of time out there when things don't go the way you would hope and you would expect. Sometimes formations are different than what's called from the sidelines. Sometimes reads are different. Sometime things break down and you just have to make plays. The good thing about that play is Vince (Young) had C.J. in his vision and he got the football to him. He'll be graded down for the 60-yard touchdown run, but he gets a minus for the missed assignment and a plus for the play.

**

(on how many plays Justin Gage played and how he performed)

**

Probably 20-30 plays. He moved around good, blocked well, didn't have many opportunities to catch the ball but felt good about it. He started to stiffen up a little bit so we decided to take him out.

**

(on if Kenny Britt has permanently supplanted Justin Gage in the starting spot)

**

No, he has not. Kenny's playing well, doing the things we expect him to do, but he's not.

**

(on who the third quarterback was)

**

Justin Gage. Justin Gage had a backup helmet with a green dot that notes the quarterback device on it. He would have been our emergency quarterback. He won last week's raffle.
