HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER**

(on speaking with the players about being safe during their time away until training camp)

We have been discussing that.  We had a very productive meeting last OTA.  Basically we have to lay out what is ahead over the next four or five weeks.  We have the rookie symposium, then another week of the paid program next week.  Then basically we have a couple of weeks where they are welcome to come in and be supervised in the weight room.  Then we have two weeks leading up to camp where there is no supervision.  They understand what is ahead.  The draft choices understand how important it is to take advantage of the symposium.  We finished up pretty good.  We have a few injury things that we have to monitor over the next week or so.  Overall, we are very, very pleased with the offseason program.

(on the fun activities following practice)

Yeah, they knew something there was coming up.  We typically do our punt catching and then we added another Olympic event over there just for … we are going to do a few things during camp and so Coach Watterson was experimenting with some conditioning drills.

(on if there were any player surprises during the OTAs)

Clearly we have great competition at the corner spot and whoever ends up with that job is going to be a good football player and be able to get the job done.  I think we have seen improvements with a number of the younger players, second and third year players.  I thought Hawk [Lavelle Hawkins] had a great camp.  We have seen improvement from the defensive line, but you can't get too excited because you are not in pads.  Overall, I think we are in good shape for camp.

(on the depth chart at wide receiver)

We have about 11 on the roster and it just changes.  Everybody is going to play.  The guys that finished up starting are the starters.  We have great competition in the middle part of the depth chart.

(on staying at the facility for training camp)

It allows you to take a business-like approach.  It eliminates the distractions of going away.  We went away a few years ago and I thought it was good.  We had a real young team.  When we come back, we come back to business.  Everything is convenient here.  With the veteran players, I give them the option to stay home if they want.  We just take a business-like approach to it.
