The scorebook says these three teams are significantly better than you guys. What's the feeling in a room about where you are in the league?
Right now, I don't think we are where we want to be, but we definitely have the potential to get there. And like I said, it's just being intentional about our work every single day and just grinding and working. It's a long season. The NFL, it is not easy. If it was easy, everybody would do it. So we just have to lock in.
What do you grab on to tell you that you can get better and this team will be better than it is?
First of all, you have to grab on to each other and you know, we all grown men, most of us have kids. And again, we get paid a lot of money to play this game that we love. So that's all we have to do. Look in the mirror, what is your why? And every single snap, do it for that don't lose sight of it.
What were your thoughts on the boos at halftime?
I personally don't like it, but I understand why they're not liking how we're playing. So I kind of expect that, they're not booing a single person, they're booing all of us as a collective unit. Right now, we haven't done what we needed to do in order for them to give us the cheers.
What would you say about just the confidence level of just the defense and the team as a whole?
The confidence level is high, but right now, how we're playing, we just needed to be higher for longer. We can't have lapses. It's just the smaller things, the details, let's focus on the details and let's just grow from that. We got another test next week, so we've got an opportunity to do it on Monday, starting Monday.
As far as the big plays go, of course big plays are happening, how would you say you all need to probably, tighten up in terms of eliminating those big plays that happen continually?
Big plays always happen because of something that we didn't do well enough. So again, we've just got to take that mirror test, go to the film, come back to our coaching. Just get back to the basics and fundamentals and dominate our jobs there, then those big plays will be eliminated.
Tough to make plays in the secondary when the quarterback has as much time as he does?
Again, we just have to come together as a collective unit. How can we go harder, a little bit more for each other, for our family, for the name on our back, for this organization? And at the end of the day, once we do that and once we put it all together, we'll like the result.
Can you think of any examples of how Callahan has adapted or changed or just something you've seen from him?
I say he's grown as far as making us a closer, collective unit, and we also do that as well. The way he holds us accountable is great. And again, this is only his second year being the head coach, so he's gotten a whole lot better. I like what I'm seeing from him. I try to encourage him when I can, because we all hear what's going on in the crowd. Nobody wants to hear that. He is a man at the end of the day outside of being the coach, so anything I can do to keep his head up, keep his motivation high, I'm going to do that as well.
Do you see it as the boos being targeted his way?
No, sir, I honestly don't. I honestly don't.
