NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Adam Butler worked up a sweat on Thursday during his visit to the Tennessee Titans.

The former Vanderbilt defensive lineman said he's ready to give relentless effort in the NFL every day.

"I had a lot of fun today," Butler said. "I learned some new stuff, and it should make me an even better player moving forward.

"Just to be out here, it is a dream come true. I was told at some point in my life I wasn't good enough to play, so to make it as far as I have and to make it here is a great accomplishment. I'm happy for the opportunity."

Butler was one of roughly 20 players who visited Saint Thomas Sports Park on a day when the team hosted prospects from local schools, and players from the area.

He talked to coaches, and went through drills led by the team's coaching staff.

Butler started all 13 games at Vanderbilt in 2016, and played at both end and tackle. He had 31 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss and a team-high four quarterback sacks last year. He posted two sacks against Florida, and 1.5 in the team's win over Tennessee. Butler racked up 113 tackles, 27.5 tackles for a loss, and 10 sacks during his playing career with the Commodores.

Butler (6-5, 300) said he's traveled to meet with the Chargers and Cowboys during the process. He's from Duncanville, Texas, so his visit to the Cowboys counted among their local visits as well. He's talked with a lot more teams during the process, including some at his Vanderbilt Pro Day.

Butler acknowledges he needs to clean up his technique as a pass rusher. But he said he plans to work on it, while making others around him better.

"I'm a guy who brings great positive energy, and I am a person who encourages great character and how you conduct yourself off the field. I am going to always be encouraging, and uplifting. And I always want to be constructive in a positive manner, and not be a cancer to the team,'' Butler said.

"And my strengths, I am really heavy and strong guy in the run game. I am going to always get after it. I am going to be a relentless player who gives it everything he has to a team."
