Titans Trade LB Akeem Ayers to Patriots for Future Pick


NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans traded fourth-year LB Akeem Ayers to the New England Patriots for a future draft selection.

Additionally, the Titans signed TE Richard Gordon to their 53-man roster and agreed to terms with LB Nate Askew and WR Derek Moye to join their practice squad.

Gordon (6-4, 265) has three seasons of NFL experience split between the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. In 29 career games, he has totaled four receptions and one touchdown, along with 16 career special teams stops. Gordon entered the NFL as a sixth-round selection by the Oakland Raiders in the 2011 NFL Draft. He spent two years with the Raiders and played in two games last year with the Chiefs. Gordon played in 49 games at the University of Miami (Fla.).

Askew (6-4, 235) was an undrafted college free agent following the 2014 draft, who signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and was waived following training camp. He played in 43 games at Texas A&M – his first three seasons a wide receiver before moving to linebacker for his senior year. In his only season at linebacker, he played all 13 games, posted 38 tackles, 1.5 sacks and three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

Moye (6-5, 210) was an undrafted college free agent in 2012, who spent time with Miami, New Orleans and Pittsburgh over the last three seasons. He played in seven games last year for the Steelers and recorded two receptions for 20 yards and one touchdown. He originally signed with Dolphins following the 2012 NFL Draft , was waived and then claimed by the Saints, where he remained through training camp. Moye spent the 2012 season on the Steelers practice squad and all of the 2013 season on the 53-man roster. He was a three-year starter at Penn State and amassed nearly 2,400 receiving yards, 144 receptions and 18 touchdowns during his college career.
