Titans QB Ryan Tannehill Carted to Locker Room, But Then Returns to the Game vs Chargers

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill was carted to the locker room on Sunday after suffering an ankle injury on Tennessee's first possession.

But Tannehill later returned to the game, in the second quarter.

And he even guided the team to a six-play, 63-yard touchdown drive immediately after returning to the game.

It didn't look good early.

On a third-and-12 play from the Tennessee 22-yard line, Tannehill was injured as he was tackled by Chargers outside linebacker Khalil Mack.

Tannehill moved upfield trying to get extra yards as Mack tackled him, and his right ankle was landed on.

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and members of the team's medical staff went out to the field as Tannehill stayed down for several minutes. Tannehill eventually walked to the sideline with a significant limp, and he talked to Titans running back Derrick Henry as he made his way to the blue medical tent.

A medical cart then came out to take Tannehill to Tennessee's locker room, and in-game the team announced Tannehill's return as questionable.

Back-up quarterback Malik Willis replaced Tannehill on the team's second drive.

Tannehill missed two games earlier in the season with an ankle injury.

But on this day, Tannehill returned to the sideline.

After throwing some warm-up tosses, Tannehill re-entered the game.

Henry scored on a four-yard run in the second quarter on Tannehill's first possession since the injury.
