Titans QB Cam Ward Aims to Keep Building on Recent Success

NASHVILLE – Cam Ward's numbers have improved.

The Titans rookie posted his highest passer rating (122.3) of the season this past Sunday against the Chiefs, when he threw two touchdown passes for the third game in a row.

With 2,866 passing yards in 2025, Ward now owns the franchise record for the most passing yards by a rookie quarterback. Marcus Mariota previously held the mark with 2,818 passing yards in 2015.

Ward is happy about the improvement, as long as it comes with wins.

"I've thrown for a lot of yards previously, I threw a lot touchdowns," Ward said on Tuesday. "So, I mean, for me, it's more — I just got to be consistent. Got to do what I need to do to win football games. Put my teammates in a good situation to help them and really just keep playing clean football on offense like we've been doing."

The Titans have won two of their past three games, counting this past Sunday's 26-9 win over the Chiefs.

Next up is a game against the New Orleans Saints at Nissan Stadium.

Ward is hoping the offensive success in recent weeks can be a building block for the future.

Ward's 122.3 passer rating against Kansas City was the franchise's third best since 1970 by a rookie quarterback with at least 20 attempts in a game. In that span, only Mariota (135.7 at New Orleans on Nov. 8 ,2015), Will Levis (130.5 vs. Atlanta on Oct. 29, 2023) and Vince Young (127.7 at Buffalo on Dec. 24, 2006) fared better with 20-plus attempts.

"I think it'd be good, because you get to see what guys can do early," Ward said of the success of the young players on the team. "You get a sense of their first year, what they're really good at, and what we also got to work on. So there's been highs and lows throughout the whole season for each one on this team. And that's the best thing about it as we start to get better individually and get better playing together. We start to just know the little things that we have to do to continue to be successful."
