NASHVILLE – With injuries on the defensive side of the football, the Titans have promoted two players from the practice squad to the active roster while placing another on Injured Reserve.
Outside linebacker Sharif Finch, who rejoined the team earlier this week, has been signed to the active roster.
Also, the team on Friday promoted defensive lineman Woodrow Hamilton IV to the active roster.
Meanwhile, the Titans moved defensive lineman Larrell Murchison to Injured Reserve.
Earlier this week, Finch returned to the team that signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Temple following the 2018 NFL Draft. Finch spent 2018 and 2019 with the team, and he played in 23 games during those two seasons, when he tallied 35 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Finch has since spent time with the Bengals, Raiders, Bears and Jets.
During practices, Finch worked in uniform No. 53 while on the practice squad.
After practice on Friday, Titans Coach Mike Vrabel ruled out outside linebacker Bud Dupree for Sunday's game against the Jets.
"(Sharif) has been here and learning the game plan and (he'll) be ready to go if called upon," Vrabel said. "We have history with Finch, and (we're) confident that he'll play hard, play with great effort and help us in all areas, whether it be in the kicking game or on defense."
Hamilton was a gameday elevation for the Titan last Sunday against the Colts, and he played in five snaps in the contest.
The Titans signed Hamilton during the 2021 offseason to add depth to the defensive line rotation. The 6-foot-3-inch, 315-pounder joined the team with seven games of NFL experience with the New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers, and he totaled six tackles and one fumble recovery in those contests. Hamilton has also spent time with the New York Giants. The Raleigh, Miss., native originally signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent following the 2016 NFL Draft. Hamilton appeared in 47 games with 23 starts over four seasons (2012-15) at Ole Miss and amassed 83 tackles, three sacks and one pass defensed.
Murchison suffered an elbow injury in Sunday's game against the Colts.
