NASHVILLE – The Titans released a statement on Monday regarding the condition of linebacker Cedric Gray.
Gray was involved in a UTV accident over the weekend, and is now in the NFL's concussion protocol.
The Titans open the 2026 season on Sunday against the New York Jets.
Here's the statement from the team:
"Over the weekend, Cedric Gray was involved in a UTV accident in Tennessee and sustained a concussion and minor injuries. We look forward to Cedric returning to the field soon and in full health when he clears the NFL's concussion protocol."
When a player enters the NFL's concussion protocol, the player must complete the return-to-participation program, which consists of several phases.
The player is initially required to avoid activities that might aggravate symptoms before eventually being able to participate in non-contact football activities. Before being cleared, the player must be examined by the independent neurological consultant assigned to his club. If the consultant agrees with the club physician that the player's concussion has resolved, he may participate in his team's next game.
The return-to-play timetable varies for each player, and until the player is cleared by the independent consultant, he may not return to contact practice or play in an NFL game.
Gray started 16 games in 2026, and he ranked fifth in the NFL with a career-high 160 tackles.
Kickoff for Sunday's game against the Jets is set for noon in Nashville at Nissan Stadium.
