Titans Game Day Travel, Parking Info

fans082112.jpg

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Downtown workers and Titans fans are urged to begin devising their travel and parking plans for Thursday evening given the sold-out 7 p.m. Titans-Arizona Cardinals game at LP Field.

At 4:30 p.m., the Woodland Street Bridge will close to regular traffic and be available only to pedestrians and shuttle buses.  Downtown workers and other motorists making the commute home Thursday will get to their destinations quicker by avoiding the congestion around LP Field.

Fans traveling downtown for the game and who normally park in state employee lots on game days will not have access to those lots Thursday evening until 5 p.m., when they are vacated by state workers.

Fans parking north of Broadway, and those who use state parking lots, can safely walk across the Woodland Street Bridge from downtown to LP Field.

For fans parking along and south of Broadway, the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge will provide safe, enjoyable, and easy access to the stadium.

Additional downtown-area parking information can be found by logging onto http://www.parkitdowntown.com.

Gates to LP Field will open at 5 p.m. Thursday. Stadium parking lots will open at 3 p.m. to Titans fans with parking passes.

NEW THIS YEAR

In an effort to improve traffic flow, minimize congestion and discourage cruising, game day staff this year will actively check for parking passes on vehicles in cue lanes to turn onto the stadium campus from Shelby Avenue. Fans without parking passes who attempt to drive to the stadium campus will be turned away.  Those fans are urged to save time, find parking in the downtown area, and walk to LP Field or ride an InShuttle Transportation shuttle bus.

Also new this year, for fan safety, is special fencing that will be set up between the sidewalks and roadways surrounding the stadium (Victory Avenue, Russell Street and South 2nd Street).  Open areas in the fencing will be staffed by law enforcement personnel who, at proper intervals, will stop traffic and assist fans crossing the streets both pre and post-game.  This plan is designed to protect families by deterring pedestrians from randomly crossing the streets in the midst of moving traffic.

Additionally, on Thursday evening and for all games this year, officers will enforce a no parking restriction on Oldham Street, just off North 1st Street.  This restriction is in place to ensure that emergency vehicles can respond to the area unimpeded if necessary.

There will be no southbound traffic permitted on North 1st Street post-game (vehicles will not be allowed to travel South on North 1st Street and turn onto Woodland Street post-game).

SHUTTLE SERVICE

InShuttle will provide park and ride bus service for this game from the state parking lots at 4th Avenue North & Harrison Street and from 10th Circle North downtown (off Charlotte across from TSU's downtown campus) beginning at 5:30 p.m.

KOREAN WAR VETERANS MEMORIAL BRIDGE

The Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (Gateway Bridge), which connects East Nashville to 4th Avenue North, will be open to eastbound and westbound traffic until the beginning of the 4th quarter each game this season (Public Works crews begin to set the streets for mass egress at the beginning of the 4th quarter).  However, there will be no access to the LP Field campus to eastbound traffic coming across the bridge from the downtown area in the three-hour period before each game (eastbound vehicles coming across the bridge will not be allowed to turn left onto the LP Field campus).  At the beginning of the fourth quarter of each game this year, all lanes of the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (Gateway Bridge) will be open to westbound traffic only, which should more quickly disperse congestion around LP Field.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR THURSDAY'S GAME

1ST Avenue between Church Street and the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed for the Music City BBQ Festival.  Additional officers will be on duty from the bridge up to 4th Avenue to assist traffic flow both pre and post-game.

Note: The post-game taxi stand is located on South First Street at Victory Avenue near the pedestrian walkway bridge.
