Titans Claim DB Lonnie Johnson Jr. Off Waivers

NASHVILLE – The Titans have claimed defensive back Lonnie Johnson Jr. off waivers.

To make room for Johnson, the Titans waived defensive back Elijah Benton.

Johnson, a second-round pick of the Texans in the 2019 NFL Draft, was recently released by the Chiefs.

Johnson, who played in college at Kentucky, has played in 44 career games, with 19 starts,

In his NFL career he's tallied 172 tackles, 13 passes defensed and three interceptions, all with the Texans. Johnson played in 14 games, with seven starts, for the Texans in 2021, when he was credited with 55 tackles, four passes defensed and three interceptions.

The Texans traded Johnson to Kansas City this past offseason.

Earlier on Tuesday the Titans waived five players to get to the NFL's 85-man limit.
