Titans and Bridgestone Partner to Host Largest Girls Flag Football Field Day to Date at Nissan Stadium

For the third consecutive season, the Tennessee Titans and Bridgestone partnered to host a Girls Flag Football Field Day at Nissan Stadium.

Nearly 100 high school athletes from five different Metro Nashville Public Schools were in attendance, setting a new record for the largest girls flag field day to date at Nissan Stadium.

The day began with an interactive panel about female leadership and breaking barriers. The panel featured Titans Director of Broadcasting Amie Wells, Titans Vice President of Engagement Tina Ruffin, Titans majorette and social media creator Chloe Holladay and Caitlyn Ranson, Director of Brand Partnerships and Event Activations, Bridgestone Americas.

Each woman spoke about their journey to their current positions and the way sports have shaped that journey, while encouraging the young women to chase their dreams despite challenges or obstacles.

"Our continued commitment to girls flag football, alongside the Tennessee Titans, underscores our joint belief in the power of sport to help young women learn how to lead on the football field, so they can lead in any field," said Caitlyn Ranson, Director of Brand Partnerships and Event Activations, Bridgestone Americas. "Girls flag football, and sports in general, inspire girls to dream big and set ambitious goals, and together with the Titans, we are working to ensure those opportunities are accessible today and for generations to come."

After the panel, it was time to hit the field with a mix of drill stations awaiting the athletes. The Titans offensive line was in attendance to cheer the athletes on and lead the different drills.

The first drill included a relay race that focused on developing the athletes' agility.

Additionally, there was a "capture the football" station that allowed athletes to hone in on the defensive side of pulling flags from fast moving targets.

Lastly, the athletes competed in a game of ultimate football which combined all of their skills: passing, route-running, catching, ball protection, and defensive coverage.

Titans guard Peter Skorosnki said it was a great experience watching the girls compete throughout the day.

"I think the biggest thing is just having fun and competing. That's applicable to any level of football from ours to playing flag football out here," said Skoronski. "The energy and level of competitiveness stands out. We're running a relay race over there and they are really getting into it and going all out and I think that's just cool to see."

Nia Murphy, a junior quarterback at Stratford High School, was in attendance. Murphy began playing flag last year. On the field, she was fiery and could be seen flying around and taking command of her offense. Off the field, Murphy shared her passion for the sport.

"I want people to know that just because we're girls, that doesn't mean we're limited. We're not limited to do anything," said Murphy. "We're all humans competing. Nobody said I can't run as fast or catch a ball as good as the boys."

Her teammate, Juliana Johnson, shared a similar sentiment, "Flag football gives us the ability to show how confident we are and how girls can bring the same entertainment and the same level as compete as anyone else."

At the end of the day, the athletes and coaches were surprised with the announcement of Bridgestone and the Titans donating $30,000 worth of equipment to be spread amongst all five schools.

"Last year, I didn't have gloves or actual cleats or anything. I had to play with soccer cleats," said Murphy. "I'm really excited about the new equipment and the opportunity to play with real cleats on my feet."
