NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans have added a third quarterback to the roster, and he's a familiar face – quarterback Austin Davis.
Meanwhile, a key member of the defense – defensive lineman Jurrell Casey – has been placed on Injured Reserve.
Those two transactions are among the moves made by the Titans on Monday, as the team begins preparations for Sunday's game against the Colts at Nissan Stadium.
The Titans also promoted former University of Tennessee linebacker LaTroy Lewis to the 53-man roster, and placed tight end Cole Wick on Injured Reserve.
Casey's loss is a big one. The four-time Pro Bowler suffered a knee injury in Saturday's win over the Redskins. In 15 starts this season, Casey produced 72 tackles, seven sacks, 50 quarterback pressures, seven tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Wick, who joins Casey on IR, was signed to the roster earlier this month when he was signed off San Francisco's practice squad. But he was injured in practice after joining the team, and he didn't play in a game.
The Titans added Davis for the second time this season as the team waits on the status of quarterback Marcus Mariota, who suffered a stinger in Saturday's game vs. the Redskins. Back-up quarterback Blaine Gabbert finished the contest, and guided the Titans to a comeback win.
Mariota's status for Sunday likely won't be known until later in the week.
A seven-year veteran, Davis has spent time with the Rams, Dolphins, Browns, Broncos and Seahawks during his NFL career, and he joined the Titans for a short stretch in September. He's played in 16 career games, and has completed 236-of-378 passes for 2,548 yards and 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
Davis (6-2, 221) played collegiately at Southern Miss, and he spent the 2017 season as quarterback Russell Wilson's back-up in Seattle. He was initially signed after Gabbert suffered a concussion earlier in the season.
Lewis was signed to the practice squad back in October. He signed with the Raiders as an undrafted college free agent in 2017. He was waived following training camp and signed with the Texans, where he played two games and totaled three tackles.
The Titans have also made a few additions to the practice squad. Former University of Tennessee defensive lineman Kendal Vickers has been added, along with receiver Kalif Raymond.
Raymond (5-9, 160) re-joins the Titans practice squad after a week-long stint with the team in September. He entered the NFL with the Broncos in 2016, as an undrafted free agent from Holy Cross. He has spent time on the practice squads and the 53-man rosters of the Broncos, New York Jets and New York Giants, totaling one reception for 12 yards, 29 punt returns for 210 yards (7.2 avg.) and 20 kickoff returns for 408 yards (20.4 avg.).
Vickers (6-3, 295) was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted college free agent, following the 2018 NFL Draft; and was waived during final cuts before the regular season. Vickers played 43 games at the University of Tennessee, where he totaled 108 tackles and 4.5 sacks during his college career.
