NASHVILLE – The Titans took the field on Wednesday for their 12th practice of training camp.
Here's a look at what stood out:
-The Titans used a portion of Wednesday's late afternoon session as a rehearsal for Friday night's preseason opener against the Falcons, starting off the practice with their pregame routine on game days.
-During the practice itself, the team worked in situational periods in a light session that was mostly at a walk-through/jog-through pace. Among the periods: 7on7 Red Zone, Punt, Punt Return, Field Goal, Field Goal Block, Kickoff and Kickoff Return, along with Team periods.
-The Titans pretty much covered it all, albeit at a slow pace. Hail Marys, onside kicks, squib kicks, lateral plays, last play of the game, hands team, and end of game Field Goal were among the scenarios the team worked on.
-Titans receiver Julio Jones was a spectator again on Wednesday, and he spent some of the early part of the session chatting with General Manager Jon Robinson. Jones spent a lot of time during the session with receiver A.J. Brown, who also didn't practice.
-Titans Coach Mike Vrabel dropped a few nuggets in his media availability after practice.
-Vrabel said starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill is not expected to play on Friday night, which means Logan Woodside and Matt Barkley will lead the offense.
-Running back Darrynton Evans will start for the Titans, Vrabel said, as Derrick Henry will get the night off.
-Vrabel said players who make the trip to Atlanta will be expected to play. He didn't give any insight on which Titans would travel, or stay home.
-Cornerback Caleb Farley is not ready to play in a game, Vrabel said.
-In addition to Jones and Brown, guard Nate Davis, tackle Kendall Lamm, center, tight end Geoff Swaim, cornerback Elijah Molden, safety Dane Cruikshank, cornerback Maurice Smith did not practice on Wednesday.
-Officials worked Wednesday's practice for the third day in a row.
-The Titans travel to Atlanta on Thursday for Friday night's preseason game against the Falcons.
Next practice: Sunday, 12:15 p.m.
