Huge momentum swing and started right there with you. Talk a little bit about what you saw out there and how it felt.
Oh, yeah. I mean, that was something, that we were excited all week about that call. I got the opportunity to get in there during the game planning and stuff like that. Me, Joe (Hastings), and Mase (Brian Mason) were all kind of able to, like, just talk about that call, and I was honestly super excited about it. I thought I was going to come free on the block and I kind of came free, but I saw Nick's (Cross) like, the top of his–he had like a yellow mouthpiece in the top of his helmet. I just seen it flash across my face. I'm like, "Oh, he finna block it." So, I just scooped it up like, and that's really crazy, like the whole year we've been working on turnover circuit, and I always prioritize making sure that I get an opportunity to bend down and grab the ball moving at full speed. It's a really hard thing to do. So, I've just really been working on that all season. Just, it's really cool just to see like this very small thing pay off. And the crazy thing is like, my wife prayed I would score, last night. My uncle texted me I was going to score this morning. So, it's really just cool. I feel like God was a huge part of that. So, I'm really just grateful that he gave me the opportunity just to be out there at that moment and be out there with the guys. And just that it had like such a huge effect on the game was super cool, you know? So, definitely like, best play of my career so far.
I was just going to say, that momentum. How does it feel knowing that you were a huge catalyst for that swing to get this win today?
Yeah, I mean, that's crazy like, you really never know. Like, some people would think like, "Oh, I'm just special team" or "I'm just out here just doing my little job" or whatever. But, our coaches always tell us always think that you're going to come free, always believe that you're going to make the play, always believe you're going to make the game changing play. So, it was just really cool just for all those things that we constantly work on, just to kind of come into fruition and work out.
For you guys to not just have one big play on special teams, but to have two. You had your touchdown, then the fumble too. Like just how much juice does that maybe give the entire team and how much pride as a big special teams guy, that you're able to play a big part in kind of keying all that.
Yeah, this week on special teams was different bro because we had so many different checks and all eleven people have to know what's going on. I got to yell at the gunner, the gunner's got to tell the—like everything has to come together. So, it's something that we just really worked on, worked on, worked on, worked on. So yeah, bro, even like, you know me, Tony (Brown), and Carlie Irsay(-Gordon), we talked about his play like, all day at the holiday party. We were just talking about it, like talking about the celebration we was going to do, all that type of stuff. So, it was just really cool that we talked about it so much, we worked on it so hard. So, one of those things were going to have to shake eventually. Just, its hard work, just keep plugging away and click together.
