How much pressure was there for the Titans' defense to hold the Chargers in overtime, to allow the offense to kick the field goal for the win?
It was a huge. Harold (Landry) coming up with the sack. Me and Harold had been talking really, since I got here, but the last couple of weeks, trying to find a rhythm. This is obviously his first time playing football in over a year, so just for him to make that play was huge for everybody. The whole day our front seven, our back end just playing complementary football with the offense and special teams. Just like I said, I'm proud of everybody.
You mentioned it seems like whenever the defense needed to make a play, guys were ready to make a play, and same for the offense, when they needed to make a play, they were able to do it. That's wasn't really the case last week what changed?
Each week is going to present new challenges and you've got to learn from whatever happened the week before, and flush it down the drain, and keep going. And that's exactly what we all did as a group. Offense, defense, special teams. And you've seen that happen today. Obviously now, it's going to be great, because everybody's gonna be like, 'Oh, the Titans look good now.' And everything that everybody wrote trash, is going to be good. Either way, I can't rely on what you say about me to dictate how we feel. We've got to keep staying true to who we are, and staying true to what we talk about in our fundamentals as a team, and keep going.
How important is it to build up that winning feeling here at the beginning of the season?
Man, it feels good. Obviously, you want to win every single game. And it's one week at a time, and this week we got the W. However you get it, it doesn't matter. You get a win in the National Football League, it's always a big deal. Enjoy it for 24 hours, and then you have to learn from it, the good and the bad, and on to the next. Be ready for the next opponent. It's going to present its own challenges next week that aren't going to be the same as this week.
