MOST SACKS IN A GAME IN FOUR YEARS: The Titans defense recorded four total sacks in the first half—one each by Zach Brown, Akeem Ayers, Jurrell Casey and Kamerion Wimbley. In the second half, Brown added another sack, and Michael Griffin and Karl Klug also recorded one each. The seven total sacks set a season high and were the most by the Titans in a game since recording seven against the Jaguars on Sept. 7, 2008.
KLUG GETS FIRST SACK OF THE SEASON: In the fourth quarter, defensive tackle Karl Klug ended a Jaguars drive with a two-yard sack on third down. It was the first sack of the season for Klug, who led the team as a rookie in 2011 with seven sacks.
GRIFFIN RECORDS THIRD CAREER SACK: In the fourth quarter, safety Michael Griffin recorded his first sack of the season, tackling Chad Henne for an eight-yard loss. It was his third career sack and first since Jan. 3, 2010 (at Seattle).
BROWN GETS TWO SACKS IN GAME: Rookie linebacker Zach Brown recorded two sacks in the game. He recorded a two-yard sack in the first quarter, and in the third quarter, he took down Chad Henne for a nine-yard loss on third down. Brown, who now has three sacks in his first NFL season, became the first Titans player with two or more sacks in a game since Karl Klug had two sacks against the New Orleans Saints on Dec. 11, 2011.
WIMBLEY NOTCHES SACK: In the second quarter, defensive end Kamerion Wimbley dropped Chad Henne for a two-yard loss. It gave Wimbley a team-high 4.5 sacks in his first year with the Titans and 47 in his seven-year career.
THREE SACKS ON ONE DRIVE FOR TITANS DEFENSE: The Titans recorded three sacks on Jacksonville's second offensive series. First, rookie linebacker Zach Brown was credited with his second sack of the season. Later, linebacker Akeem Ayers recorded his fourth sack of the season (sixth of career), and on the next play, defensive tackle Jurrell Casey ended the drive with a 10-yard sack (second of season; 4.5 career).
COOK LEADS TEAM, SETS SEASON HIGH: Tight end Jared Cook led the Titans with six receptions for 47 yards against the Jaguars. His reception total also set a season high.
WASHINGTON REACHES 300: With a six-yard catch in the fourth quarter, wide receiver Nate Washington reached the 300-reception mark for his career. Washington, who totaled four receptions for a team-high 54 yards at Jacksonville, now has 302 career receptions for 4,521 yards and 35 touchdowns.
KERN SETS CAREER HIGH IN NET AVERAGE: Brett Kern punted four times against the Jaguars and averaged 49.0 net yards per punt (50.3 gross average). His net averaged set a new career high and was the third-best on record (since 1976) for the franchise among all players with four punts in a game. Only two efforts by Greg Montgomery (49.8 on Sept. 19, 1993 against San Diego; 49.4 against Buffalo on Dec. 27, 1992) have been better.
BRITT SCORES SECOND TOUCHDOWN OF 2012: In the fourth quarter, wide receiver Kenny Britt caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Jake Locker. It was the second touchdown of the season for Britt and the 17th of his career.
LOCKER PERFECT ON LATE SCORING DRIVE: During a six-play scoring drive in the fourth quarter, Jake Locker completed all five of his pass attempts for 47 total yards, including a six-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Britt. It marked the seventh touchdown pass of the season for Locker and the 11th in his career.
BIRONAS MAKES FOUR FIELD GOALS: Rob Bironas scored 13 total points against the Jaguars, making four out of five field goal attempts and his only extra point attempt. He connected on field goals of 38, 40, 39 and 33 yards, with his only miss coming from 42 yards. It marked his second game this season (Oct. 11 vs. Pittsburgh) and his 10th career game with four or more field goals. It was also his fourth game this season with three or more field goals.
WRIGHT PASSES HENNIGAN: Rookie wide receiver Kendall Wright totaled five receptions for 48 yards against the Jaguars. He now has a team-high 48 receptions in 2012 for 438 yards. With a 10-yard catch in the fourth quarter, he passed Charlie Hennigan (44 receptions in 1960) for fourth place on team's all-time rookie receptions list. Only Bill Groman (72 in 1960), Ernest Givins (61 in 1986) and Sid Blanks (56 in 1964) have had more catches as rookies with the club
FOURTH-DOWN STOP: With 52 seconds to play in the first half, the Jaguars faced a fourth-and-three at the Tennessee 45-yard line. The Titans defense forced stop, however, as Chad Henne's downfield pass to Justin Blackmon fell incomplete. The stop put the Titans in position for a 40-yard field goal.
WASHINGTON EXTENDS STREAK: With a 21-yard catch in the second quarter, wide receiver Nate Washington extended his streak of consecutive games with at least one reception to 73 (59 games with the Titans).
TITANS SCORE FIRST: Less than two minutes into the game, Rob Bironas booted a 38-yard field goal to give the Titans a 3-0 lead. It marked the fifth time this season the Titans scored on their opening drive and the sixth time in 2012 they scored the game's first points.
EARLY INTERCEPTION BY VERNER: On the Jaguars' first play from scrimmage, Sen'Derrick Marks tipped a Chad Henne pass. Cornerback Alterraun Verner ran under the ball to record his second interception of the season and the sixth of his three-year career.
TITANS INACTIVES: The Titans' seven inactives against the Jaguars were quarterback Rusty Smith, running back Jamie Harper, safety Al Afalava, linebacker Xavier Adibi, tackle Byron Stingily, wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins and defensive tackle DaJohn Harris.
