Cam's (Ward) been pretty good in both games when he's had a chance. How do you guys give him more of a chance? Do you feel like you're holding back?
Yeah, I mean, I think it's a collective thing and we've got to be better up front. We've got huge challenges and we've got to give him the time because that's our job. I mean there's not much more to it. We've got to protect and give him time. If he's having to scramble out and make plays and move, that's not going to happen.
How frustrating so far have these couple of games been for this offensive line with expectations being so high for the group coming into this year?
Yeah, I think so. Then again, it's Week 2. We're not going to kill ourselves here, but it's got to be better. There's no doubt about that. It's got to be better, we're going to continue to get better.
What going on with the number of penalties over the last couple weeks?
It's not complicated in my opinion, we can't have them. Especially the pre-snap, the false starts, just can't do it. It's just we've got to be disciplined and there's not much— there's no tricks or anything to not having them. It's just, don't do it. It's pretty simple. We've got to be better at that. That's killing the offense.
Chig (Okonkwo) was saying he felt you guys came out a little flat after half. Why do you think that was the case and how do you feel about that?
I thought when we started to move the ball a little bit pretty well— I think it was that first drive. We've just got to be able to finish.
Were you trying to kick the field goal at the end of the half?
We've got to be great if we're not serving the ball and sitting for a while at that time and the defense starting off. We've got to just be able to execute regardless of situations. That's the beginning of the game, out of the half, at the middle of the second quarter or something like that. We can't be beholden to situations. We've just got to do our job every single play.
0-2, obviously not where you want to be but like you said it is early you get a divisional foe here next week. Chance to get a win and jump start your season?
For sure, it always means a little bit more in the division. It's early, it's frustrating start for sure, but we're going to continue to grind and try to get the first one.
What do you say to a guy like John (Ojuwku) subbing in for JC (Latham) in a tough spot to be in?
Yeah, definitely tough spot. He's a really hard worker and he's done a lot of good stuff for us, just keeping his head up. He's had some mistakes, we can't have those, but continuing to play and not letting one mistake bury you, that's tough, and we don't want that. But you've got to keep going, you've got to continue to keep your head up and continue to work hard. I know he will.
