The last three games, narrow margins, seems like a lot of things came unwound today. You feel like that was a step in the wrong direction?
We lost.
There were personal fouls than points though...
I mean division game, shit happens.
How can you all take those negatives that happen and turn them into positives instead of it being detrimental?
I mean we talking about flags, if that's what you're talking about. And the one I got, I mean he stood over me and told me (explicit). I mean it is what it is. I'm not going to—I mean, the ref said he thought I grabbed his face mask, but I didn't. I grabbed him right here. But I mean it is what it is. I mean some of them, we need to be smart. But we'll watch the tape and see what really went on throughout the game and we'll see what happened. And I mean, yeah, we know we can't do things that hurt the team. But it's also a division game. Since I've been a kid, division game always…you're going to get pushing and shoving, but I mean it is what it is.
Surely you've heard stuff like that before, do you generally walk away?
Man, it is what it is. I didn't walk away, and I got up and grabbed him and they threw a flag. So, when that game's over with, that didn't lose the football game.
They had the drive and scored the touchdown and then got a fumble on the kickoff, then things just opened up. What happened?
No momentum. The team scored and they're right back on the field. It's like you keep saying go out there, go out there, get a stop. But man, we're fighting. I mean it was three-and-out, three-and-outs. I don't know.
You used to say that you guys had to be like a fireman to go put the fire out. It didn't matter where the ball was...
We still have that mindset. But I don't know, man. I mean it's just not clicking right now. Nothing's clicking. We're 1-11 for a reason.
Arden (Key) alluded to some factors that he couldn't speak on that has potentially impacted either this game or the result. I imagine you don't want to speak on it either, but what can you say about maybe the attitude or environment around the team right now?
We need to figure something out. I mean, we got five games left for sure. We got to figure it out. I mean, once we figure out, once we get through this season, I mean, we got to do a lot of self-reflecting. And whoever comes in to be this head coach, we need somebody who's going to lead this football team. Yeah, I mean that's it. We got to figure it out.
Is there a feeling of here we go again when bad things start to snowball like it did the first half?
I mean you try not to have that mindset during the game, but it's like, we're trying to, going on the field playing snaps on defense, like I love to run out there on defense. But it's also like complementary football. I mean we going to keep saying that word. We have to play complementary football. Nothing is clicking right now for the team.
When you say you need somebody who's going to lead this football team, you feel like...
We'll figure that out in the offseason. But like I said, we got five more games, and like I said hopefully we get somebody in here that—the culture and everything have to be better around here. But we'll figure that out when we get to that. We got five more games left.
They were able to keep that drive alive on the roughing the punter penalty and eventually score. How tough was that when it looked like you guys had gotten off the field?
Like he just said over here, we got to go try to put the fire out again. We get off the field and guess we got to continue to put the fire out. Like I said, it's just not—I mean I thought that was I don't know what the reason why they called it. But I mean, I don't really know exactly what happened, but I saw him dive and it was like he hit his right leg and not the left leg. But we got some calls in that game that were questionable, but got to go out there and try to put the fire out again.
