DT Jeffery Simmons

How tough is this one especially on a day where you guys fought your ass off?

It was tough as hell. I mean sudden changes, three-and-outs. I mean, we got to play complementary football. It's not good enough. Too many self-inflicted things today, like all around. I mean say what we want, but I mean three-and-out, three-and-out, three-and-out. We got to be better. We're tired of sugarcoating it. I'm tired of sugar coating it. We need to be better. Especially at home. Can't have that many false starts. We need to be better. I mean we can't keep sitting up here saying the same thing, trying to sugarcoat it for the media, for anybody. And I said it in the locker room, I said it on the field. I'm tired of sugarcoating it. I mean we need to be better. At the end of the day, we need to protect Cam (Ward) better. Simple.

How do you guys feel as a defense when knowing if you give up two touchdowns or whatever that it's going to be hard to win?

At the end of the day, it's about complementary football. We have to play better team football. Sometimes the offense be playing good. Sometime the defense. But how can we play good as a team, three-phases? We not playing good team football right now, and it's showing. And Mike (McCoy) said it at a practice Friday. We had freaking four false starts Friday. We playing at home. We shouldn't have that many false starts. Don't care. Like I'm tired of saving feelings. I'm tired of losing. That's what I'm tired of doing. Guys on this team fighting. Rid (Calvin Ridley) fighting. Arden (Key), we fought our way back from injuries, just because the team and this game mean so much to us. Everybody had to take that same approach. Take this approach. We grown men. Everybody have a job to do. And we need to attack this game. We need to attack every day with a better attitude. And like I said, we need to play better football as a team.

When you talked about three and outs and so forth, when you brought that up after the game, what was said after that?

I mean we'll see. We'll see next week. And we still got a lot of football games left. I mean we got what seven left? At the end of the day, like I said, we can keep talking about it. We talk about it every week. We've been saying the same thing, we keep saying the same thing in the media. We keep saying the same thing to each other. I see the other team saying it. Then they go out there and improve it. We haven't proved nothing. We're not playing good team football.

There was a point when you went over to the offense, and saw you talk with some aggression. Is that basically what was happening?

I play with a lot of passion. I really don't remember exactly what I said, but it's the same thing. I want to fire them guys up. They fire me up. I mean at the end of the day, like I said, how can we play complementary football?
