DL John Franklin-Myers

On the defensive performance

"The standard is the standard. It's just kind of how we play, we do things one way. We just need an opportunity, and we had an opportunity today. That's what we expect of ourselves. Just another opportunity. Each and every week we want to do that. That's the goal, ultimately."

On where the defense can grow

"Tackling. We missed some tackles. That turns a great game into a dominant game and it's on us. The first game you see that but no excuses on our part. We want to make the plays that we're supposed to make, make those tackles—myself included—I missed a couple tackles, missed a sack. Ultimately, I have to be better for the team. We hold each other to such a high regard and such a high standard that we're able to have those conversations tomorrow. To debrief is truly more important than the game."

On having to come in on their own side of the field and play defense

"It's complementary football. In some cases, you understand that they're going to have a short field and vice versa. When they're backed up, we're expected to keep them backed up and that's the offense doing us a favor. It's kind of how the game works. You take yours when you have it. Sometimes you start with a short field and other times they'll be backed up and we (get) to play with a long field and we're able to kind of hunt a little more. Ultimately, our job is to play defense, and you set the ball down and we're going to play football."
