Cook Answers Fans' Questions from Facebook, Twitter

Throughout the season, the Tennessee Titans social media platforms, facebook.com/titans and @tennesseetitans on Twitter, will ask fans to submit their favorite questions for a designated Titans player.  The player will then answer the best ones in the latest issue of Titans GameDay and at Titansonline.com.

This week Jared Cook (@JaredCook89) fields questions from the fans.  Cook possesses a rare combination of speed, athleticism and pass-catching skills. After a rookie season in which he played sparingly (nine receptions for 74 yards), Cook enjoyed a strong sophomore campaign with 29 receptions for 361 yards and a touchdown. He flourished in the second half of the 2010 season, tying for 10th among NFL tight ends with 26 catches over the final eight games.

*Edwin Hernandez on Facebook asks:  We know what you can do in the passing game, but what have you done to improve your run/pass blocking?*

"I've worked a lot with Coach Zernhelt and in the offseason I worked with former offensive lineman Brad Hopkins a little bit.  I'm working on consistency and my technique.  I still have a long ways to go, but it has improved I think."

*Lain Meldrum Titan on Facebook asks:  Which players did you look up to and aspire to be when you first started playing the game?*

"I grew up as a receiver and I played receiver up until my sophomore year in college.  Growing up I used to love Jerry Rice and big receivers like Keyshawn Johnson and Michael Irvin and would try to get techniques from them."

*Jeramy Dion Boone on Facebook asks:  What do you do to prepare yourself for each game?*

"On game day I review all the notes in the playbook and go over some last-minute situations in the locker room and I stay pretty quiet and to myself.  I'm just getting prepared to go out and play."

*Riley Morris on Facebook asks:  Do you have a pre-meditated touchdown celebration ready or are you just going to wing it?*

"I'll just kind of wing it.  A lot of people say I should do the Cooking Dance by Lil B, but I will probably just wing it."

*Dustin Shull on Facebook asks:  What music do you like to pump yourself up to before a game?*

"I listen to a lot of things, including Jay-Z and Killer Mike.  I also listen to a lot of gospel."

*Jesse Lopez IV on Facebook asks:  Who inspires you, and what is your game day breakfast?*

"My brother and my father inspire me.  They are just hard-working men that have always set up a good balance for me in my life.  I usually eat light on game day with an omelet and chicken breast."

Shane Edward Rice on Facebook asks:  *Who would win in a tennis match, you or Mariani?*

"We haven't played but definitely me."

*@DustinToms_OS on Twitter asks: What is the most difficult part in having multiple QBs in your first few years in the NFL?*

"Everybody has a different style and everybody expects different things.  Trying to keep up with what each quarterback likes and the timing are the biggest things you have to get used to."

*@DJ_Insanity1 on Twitter asks:  How do you deal with the pressure of everyone saying 2011 will be your "breakout" season?*

"I can't really pay much attention to it.  I have to get through this year and play my best and I have to go out and do my job every Sunday.  You can't get caught up in what people say or what could happen.  You have to go out and let the game come to you."

*@acarter3 on Twitter asks:  Which current or former NFL player has been the biggest influence on you as a player?*

"Alge Crumpler.  He was here my first year.  He was a buddy, but also a stern disciplinarian and he taught me a lot about the game.  Daniel Graham has also been a big part of that.  He has been a friend and a teacher of the game."

*@IWalkTheEarth on Twitter asks:  Who do you look at around the league as the best TE in football right now?*

"Antonio Gates and Jason Witten are the best all-around.  You kind of want to be on the level with them and get your game up."
