One-day clinic is FREE and open to high school football players across the state

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy has a few spots remaining for area athletes to join him this Saturday for his free, one-day football combine prep clinic geared towards high school football players who want to improve their overall skills training.

The clinic will be held on Saturday, July 13 at Quest Sports Center in Brentwood, Tenn. and will focus on training high school athletes for college combines.

Athletes can expect various drills and testing to improve their performance as they move from high school to college and potentially preparing for the pros.  Posting great numbers at a combine can put an athlete who had been relatively unnoticed on the radar of a major university.

The free clinic is made possible through the title sponsorship of Gary Matthews Nissan and a grant from the NFL.  McCarthy attended a similar clinic while attending Clearwater Central Catholic High School in Florida and believes the combine training better prepared him for college play and ultimately the NFL.

"I wanted to share the opportunity to work with high school athletes in the area to provide training and encouragement," said McCarthy.  "There isn't a clinic like this in Tennessee and I was able to participate in something similar when I was in high school.  I saw it as a real advantage and I want to give the same opportunity to these athletes who want to take their training and knowledge to the next level."

McCarthy is excited about entering his third year in the NFL and truly making a mark both on and off the field.  He has recently launched a new website – ColinMcCarthyNFL.com where he hopes to connect with fans, post photos, announce fan contests, upcoming appearances and event information like the football clinic.

"We're going to have fun with the fans this year and get them involved," said McCarthy.  "We will have a fun fan contest coming up during training camp that I think people will really enjoy."

The high school football clinic is free and open to student athletes (sophomores, juniors and seniors) in the region with a recommendation from their high school football coach.
