We talk about play action, play action, play action. I think Derrick (Henry) had negative carries the first two, but then the next nine carries, goes for like 65 yards. Is that what set everything else up?
Yeah, it just it takes time. They're good on defense. Your run games, your guys want to push those guys around. They're good over there too, so the time you keep grinding throughout drives, runs pop.
Still at the same time, the offense had multiple chances to really kind of, put this game away. Is that just the next step for you guys?
Yeah, we played great in the first half. We scored points I think on every drive but one. We've got to do it the second half. We've got to keep our foot down. We've got to start the first play on each drive with positive plays. We can't keep getting behind the sticks. So, we have to be better in the second half.
Was it a step forward for the offensive line today? It was Dennis (Daley)'s first start.
We won, that's all that matters right now. I don't care. Whatever it takes to win around here, I'm in the winning business. I don't care. Whatever it takes to win. That's all I care about.
Yeah, 0-3 can be a scary place.
I don't know what that is. We got to win today. That's all I care about and we're on to the next game, and we're excited around here. Once you get one, you just try to get it going from there.
Ben, how important is it that this unit builds off of your win today?
Yeah, it's a win. It's how this line's been built. Every year we've had multiple guys go down. Taylor (Lewan) is a fighter. We never want to see something like that happen to one of our guys. He's one of our brothers. But it's always this mentality, 'the next guy up,' in this league. That's how guys get opportunities and you've got to take advantage of those.
