NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Titans quarterback Jake Locker, actor Anson Mount from AMC's Hell on Wheels, and John McClain of the Houston Chronicle and 104.5 The Zone are teaming up to fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The trio will participate in an inaugural Q & A from 5 to 7 p.m. on April 12 at Nashville's Hard Rock Café. The event will include dinner, drinks and the opportunity to ask the panelists questions about the sports and television/movie industry. **Click here to order tickets for the Q & A**.
The Q & A has been organized by the **Fighting Duchenne Foundation**, a Tennessee-based organization that is raising money to start a research department at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
The panelists have very unique backgrounds. Locker is from Ferndale, Wash., and is preparing for his third pro season and second as Titans starting QB. Mount is from White Bluff, Tenn. In addition to starring in Hell on Wheels, Mount has multiple film and television credits and has also worked as a writer, director and producer. McClain has covered the NFL, the Houston Oilers and the Houston Texans. His first training camp was in 1977.
The Fighting Duchenne Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit that was organized by parents of two sons who are battling Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). They want to find a cure for their sons and approximately 200,000 other children.
DMD affects one in every 3,500 boys and is usually diagnosed when they are 5 or 6 years old. There is currently no cure for DMD, a disease that causes rapid muscle deterioration. It can result in confinement to a wheelchair by the time a child turns 10 and can cause fatality before the affected person turns 30.
In addition to The Q & A on Friday, Locker, Mount and Titans backup QB Rusty Smith will participate in the Dunk Duchenne's Celebrity Basketball Game to benefit the foundation at 6:30 p.m. on April 13 at Dickson County High School. Former Titans safety Blaine Bishop, former Charlotte and New Orleans Hornet Kirk Haston, former NBA veteran Jim Farmer and Sawyer Brown lead singer Mark Miller are also scheduled to play. **Click here to purchase tickets for the basketball game**.
